After an incredible and amazing 40-year journey, Pioneer Machine is set to retire at the end of 2025! Pioneer will continue business as usual through Christmas, with our official closing date set for December 31, 2025. We’re thrilled to announce that our work will continue with

Alexanders Mechanical Solutions

in Greenfield, Maine. 

This decision brings with a mix of emotions for us, but primarily a deep sense of gratitude and pride as we look back on our incredible time in business. It's been a remarkable and blessed adventure filled with invaluable learning experiences and countless cherished interactions with wonderful customers. 

Founded in 1985 by Steven and Marlene Grenier, Pioneer Machine has proudly served the great state of Maine as one of its few remaining fully manual machine shops. Our facility grew to over 7,000 square feet, allowing us to provide a diverse range of services, including metal fabrication, hydraulic services, and general repair. As a family-owned business deeply rooted in Maine, we valued our commitment to our customers and our employees. Steven led the shop with a dedicated team, while Marlene expertly managed our finances and accounts. Over the last decade, Kate has been the friendly face welcoming our customers, playing an integral role in Pioneer with her business savvy and unwavering dedication.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all our outstanding employees, both past and present, who have accompanied us on this 40-year journey. We want to particularly recognize and thank Brian Wadleigh, our foreman, who has been a part of our family since 1987. His passion and expertise have kept us thriving, and we are immensely proud of the work he has done here at Pioneer. Brian put his heart into his vocation; his dedication to his craft is truly exceptional, and he is unsurpassed by any other machinist we know. Not only is Brian a wonderful employee, he is a man with principles, values, and integrity.  We wish him and his family all the best as he embarks on new adventures.

While the Pioneer crew is retiring, we are excited that our work will continue through Alexanders Mechanical Solutions in Greenfield, Maine. Their philosophy and business model aligns with Pioneer’s customer-centric values. In business since 1994, the talented team at Alexanders Mechanical Solutions will continue to provide exceptional machining and hydraulic services to meet all your needs.

As we wrap up this chapter, we wish to extend our deepest appreciation to every team member, partner, and customer who has been part of our inspiring story. We are so thankful for each and every one of you. Your support and engagement have truly meant the world to us, and we celebrate all the wonderful memories we've created together!

Pioneer Machine Inc. is small, but highly capable manual machine shop and hydraulic repair facility committed to providing excellent quality machining services. We specialize in manual machining, "one-off specials" or prototypes, custom machined parts, fabrication, general repair, assembly and welding. Pioneer also manufactures, assembles, and repairs machinery from hand sketches to CAD drawings.

Manual machining (traditional or conventional machining) is a cost-efficient option and is ideal for small projects that require focus and a lot of human intervention. Manual machines require no computer control but rely on the skills, brilliant mind, and expertise of the operator. 

As a job shop, Pioneer Machine offers and uses a variety of materials including steel, iron, aluminum, brass, plastics, and more. Our hydraulic inventory includes tubing, rod, seals, fittings, adapters, and hoses. Our extensive in-house inventory allows us to handle projects quickly, minimizing your downtime.
